I call shenanigans unless it’s actually signed, sealed, and delivered. I don’t trust the Republicans any farther than I can throw them, which is to say, not at all.

I think it could be real. The GOP know that a default would sink them. They’ll take the deal as close to the last minute as they can and then claim victory.
