As a general rule, if a sitting president faces a primary challenge in his re-election campaign, he’s going to lose the general election. LBJ withdrew in ‘68, Ford lost in ‘76, Carter lost in ‘80, Bush lost in ‘92. So Trump getting any kind of establishment style challenger is probably good for us in the long run.

Don’t forget Ohio Johnny Kasich.

I’m pretty confident he is going to run. There will be others too, not just Jeff “Flake” Flake.
