Churchill and Patton both thought the best plan for the immediate post-war situation was to rearm the Wehrmacht, turn them East, and use them as the front ranks in a war with the Soviets.

That’s a scary thought. Makes me glad Attlee beat Churchill and that Eisenhower not Patton was in charge of Allied Forces.
