Good analogy, but it only applies to political foes who haven’t plunged over the cliff of the conservative cult. As Renaissance_Man has so eloquently pointed out on a many an occasion, they care about hating liberals and nothing else. They’ll even accept harm to themselves if it means destroying something they think liberals like. Attempting to reason with people like this is like trying to pick up a dog turd from the clean end.

Not all or even most conservatives are like that. But many of those who are are very noisy so they attract a disproportionate portion of the attention.
