Me, I saw it as realpolitik to avoid utter governmental breakdown, with a side-order of an honest-to-God civil war, with shooting and whatnot.

And that’s before having seen the depths of vileness — and said vileness’s spread into rank-and-file Republicans — the RWNJs have displayed over the past 5 years in the mass-media and online.

*shudder*

Same, I saw it being close to the spirit of what Lincoln talked about in his second inaugural. I think Obama sincerely did believe that he’d have a truly loyal opposition. He was unfortunately wrong. I knew the Republicans and right were nasty before Obama became president but I didn’t know they were this assholic.
