They’d probably like Maverick…..Westerns are somewhat popular here, mostly because of the influence of Karl May and his Winnetou/Old Shatterhand novels (and later, films).

I read somewhere once that a certain former German leader (the one with the funny little mustache) has been, like most Germans of the time, a big fan of Karl May’s Western dime-novels. Supposedly it shaped his notion of what America and Americans were like: violent, tough and resourceful, but too individualistic and undisciplined
to be a serious military threat.
And we know the ending of THAT story….
