I’m finally getting away from the supermarkets myself. It takes a lot of scouting but I’ve found some independent butchers, fishmarkets and veg sellers close to me. All very good quality and very reasonably priced.

I now live walking distance from the docks at Half Moon Bay. I suspect my intake of fish will go up in the coming months, and when the stripers start running, I’ll be taking the dogs on a morning jog along the beach so I can throw out a nice heavy jig or rubber eel. I have a crab net, so I’ll be getting my own dungeness crab.
