The UK isn’t the US, I think there IS voluntary Sharia arbitration courts, there are ones that use Jewish law too.
The problems are:
1) these tend to be unfair to women
2) if people are under pressure from their family, is the choice to use arbitration through a religious institution really “voluntary”?
Similar questions have come up in Canada.
It’s just ignorant to assume that people who are talking about a legal issue in another country are just like American wingnuts who fixate on pure fantasy.
