The Latest from Texas : New Bill would Require a Class on Adoption Before any Abortion

Wish I had bookmarked this but the other day I saw a study that had been done on women who had been denied abortions. Some years later, at least 85% were with the child (ie., adoption was not a preferred option because, duh, it’s not an easy and happy thing) and maybe 30% more had slipped into poverty — that is, 30% more than the ones who’d already been living below the poverty line before their unplanned pregnancy. Do you think those statistics will be included in this bogus course?

OK, let me just vent about these pointless government-mandated courses about adoption. I was supposed to take one from the other end when I adopted my third child — a course about all the dangers and things that can go wrong with adopted kids and how you need to prepare yourself for that. You watch a couple of videos and answer some multiple-choice questions and are supposed to be “educated” in making your decision. It’s totally bogus. Either you want to know these things, or you just don’t want to know them. They are not rocket science.

God, these people think women are stupid.

(By the way, I argued my way out of the full course by pointing out that I’d already adopted two children. Can they make an escape clause here for women who have already had another abortion?)
