RealityBasedSteve,

Bryan Fischer is determined to deny what the first amendment actually says, because its an anathema to theocratic bigots like him, much the same way the 13th, 14th, and 15th amendment, are to racists, especially when you combined them with the 1964 civil rights act.

Fischer actually has more in common with those Muslim fanatics like Anjem Choudary who actually would like to force their interpretation of sharia on everyone, than he does with our founding fathers. In fact people like Choudary despise the first amendment, because they know that the separation of church and state mandated by the establishment clause is one of things standing in their way. Fischer of course would despise the first amendment as well, if he actually accepted what it really said.

He of course will deny this, but it’s plainly obvious to anyone, who actually reads the first amendment, and realizes that there’s nothing, anywhere in the constitution that contradicts it. No historian or legal scholar worth his or her salt would ever agree with him on this. Unfortunately many of his followers will be dumb enough to actually believe him.

Which is why Fischer is going to freak out when the courts uphold the Hindu/Satanist lawsuit’s arguments. And should the Supreme Court hear the case, He’ll howl about ‘betrayal’ when Scalia and Alito rule in the Hindus and Satanists favor.

Eventually, Fischer is either going to simply fade away or he’s going to start advocating armed insurrection.
