It’s the same with NAFTA, they loved him railing against it during the campaign because they thought it might scare Mexico and Canada into placating us with a more “fair” deal. Even when their own constituents (farmers, factory owners, hotels, etc) came to them with fears of what would happen if NAFTA were axed, they sent them away with assurances that Trump was going to get a “better” deal for them.

Now? Now they’re scared shitless because Donny is desperate for something to fire up his base and axing NAFTA to “stiggit” to Mexico has a certain appeal. But the governments of both countries have stated that if he does that, neither will be making a unilateral deal, there will either be NAFTA or nothing.
