And there’s something else - the education system is skewed not towards providing trades type jobs, but instead a service industry that is disconnected from the base skilled labor needed to make everything else possible.

I’m not sure a PR campaign would do much, It;s a cultural thing. Plumbers, carpenters, etc are not respected in our society no matter how necessary they are. This also ties into the immigration debate because we need to import laborers who will actually these jobs that most natural born Americans feel is beneath them.
