Well, we managed it in our 50s with a preexisting condition on my husband’s part. Fortunately it was something that had come and then gone and we were able to explain this to the company. Otherwise, well, he would have been up a creek. Now that we’re 60-ish, it is hideously expensive. Fortunately we can afford it if we are careful with our spending, but Medicare cannot come too soon IMHO.
I don’t know what people who are closer to the edge financially do. Oh, wait. I do know-they go without, and it just shouldn’t happen.
