Boehner won’t give specifics because if he does the Dems will just lambast give as the “Grinch Who Stole Christmas”. They don’t want to make any serious cuts, and will simply call any specifics Boehner puts forward publicly “dead on arrival”. He’s right to refuse to fall for their BS tactic. They can negotiate in private or not at all.

You mean “the Grinch who stole Planned Parenthood because Baby Souls matter more than women; really like tax cuts for large corporations that are for some reason referred to as “small businesses”; is really into privatization even though it’s fiscally inefficient; wants to de-fund the EPA and the FDA; but will brook absolutely no cuts to the military budget.”

The last time the Republicans issued small details it was the Ryan Budget, which was not just “lambasted by Democrats” but shown to be innumerate to the point it would increase the deficit it was trying to fix, and was hated not just by partisan politicians but by the public in general. They can’t argue substance because there’s none to be had: they’ve got a hash of free market voodoo, crony-ism, and prosecution of social conservative agenda through fund allocation.

So what’s being done is exactly the same obstructionism as last year: grouse about being “serious” but providing no details while accusing the President of “not being serious” because he won’t sign a blank check. They’ve fallen back on the artifice of presenting nothing solid while promising everything.
