More to the point, HI is well beyond it’s “carrying capacity” as far as being inherently able to support its population. It depends upon imports for many vital items.
Good point. Of course the thing to do here would be to make Hawaii self sustaining but that’s not going to happen. People want imported beef, electronics, gasoline, prepackaged snack foods, cars, etc. Hawaiian economy is a great example of why we have global warming in the first place.
