On Saturday I post some caps of radar images showing widespread heavy thunderstorms in the upper midwest.

Turns out there was quite a bit of flooding in the Des Moines area: This is how much it rained in the Des Moines metro Saturday night

In the long term, such as in a century, torrential rainfall will become more common, as global surface temperature rise is accompanied by increased water in the atmosphere. The eastern half of the US will suffer from this, while we out west will dry out.

There has been more flash flooding from quick but concentrated heavy downpours this spring and summer in Ohio than I can remember.
