re: #34 Scottish Dragon
Iāve been getting overly sharp elbowed on twitter I guess, since Aravosis blocked me yesterday.
He was complaining about pro trans groups that use phrases like ādeadnamingā:
[Embedded content]
He blocked me.
I donāt knowā¦was I overly bitchy? I honest to God donāt know what the fuck he was thinking if he didnāt expect somebody to bite back. That was some serious privilege shit IMHO and the trans community has had to fight for survival without a lot of help for decades. We didnāt ask and donāt want his savior input at this point in the game, and especially not with a crumbly insult topping.
two comments:
If youāre waiting for people to Google why they should embrace your civil rights or other cause, then youāre going to lose. Successful advocacy is part in-your-face pressure and part marketing/salesmanship. Itās not your targetās job to just accept that youāre right.
this is just plain wrong.
no one needs to āembraceā my civil rights
they are mine
everyone has these rights.
what is true is that in some cases they are deliberately suppressed by āthe stateā who also doesnt discourage their suppression in the workplace and public square
the rest of societyās job is to recognize and respect all my civil rights exactly the same way i am required to respect theirs
āliberty and justice for allā means all or it means nothing
w/r/t to ādeadnamingā (a term i just learned) - people change their names for all kinds of reasons. sometimes legally, sometimes more informally.
imo you call people by their name regardless of the reason for the change carries more weight than focusing on any specific reason why someone changed
