re: #43 Teddy’s Person

Doesn’t the hospital bracelet on his arm indicate that he was seen by medical professionals or do they hand those out as soon as you sign into the ER? (I’ve never gone to a hospital ER.)

At the very least, it means that an ER nurse entered Kirk’s info into the system and slapped a bracelet on him. But putting out your back is not a life-threatening “emergency,” so they likely told him to take a number and sit in the lobby in order to keep beds free for actual emergencies. Since there probably wasn’t an open bench in the waiting room on which he could lie, the receptionist directed him to a bench just outside despite being told that his being a white man in pain was a vital emergency deserving of immediate attention.

The end result was probably a shot of painkillers, along with a script to drop off at the pharmacy for more, and a referral to his primary care doctor for a follow-up.
