A few people thought it a bit unsettling that my brother could name who dinner had been. (My niece named all the chickens. And early on my brother had both layers and meat chickens. It’s been all layers for quite a few years now.)

Yup, it’s generally a bad idea to name dinner. :)

The problem with layers is that they start to be less productive after a year or so. And then what do the owners decide to do?
