She was forced to sit at the dinner table until she finished it. When she had not finished it at bedtime, she was sent to bed and had it served to her cold the next day.

Finally she snuck it out and hid it on the compost heap, where they found it, washed it off and forced her to eat it in their presence.

this is why we want dogs to sit under the table, so we can sneak them things.
