That doesn’t surprise me. Smart people like figuring things out, and they tend to be arrogant. If patterns seem to lead in one place, and they’re not humble enough, they go mad.

Math people are the smartest in the sciences… and the craziest. The Unabomber comes to mind, as well as that Nash feller in “A Beautiful Mind”.
