Bork is a pivotal part of the right wing’s mythos of victimization, and exactly as true as their mythic versions of Reagan and Buckley. He was full of shit and hopped on any legal theory that justified his reactionary instincts.

When they invoke Bork, it’s to reaffirm that what is right is only defined by what is expedient to their needs.

How they’re treating Kavanaugh…who’s a hack jurist who’s literally been groomed by an organization to fulfill their agenda…is a continuation of the Vaseline-on-the-lens picture of Bork, “principled originalist.”

Bork’s “inkblot on the constitution” line about the 9th Amendment should have been his downfall among originalists. You can’t claim to be some high-minded constitutional scholar and then say “I have no fucking clue what that means.”

Hell, his role in the Saturday Night Massacre should have been enough to prevent his nomination, but that’s the way this shit goes.
