Moral Dilemma: I’ve been a fan of shock jocks and free speech for a very long time. I highly value offensive speech as part of our freedoms as Americans. Since all the edgy talk radio has been chased off the public airwaves I’ve subscribed to Xm satellite radio and have been a devoted listener of Opie/Anthony and Ron/Fez on XM 202. I just heard a commercial for Alex Jone’s “Obama Deception”. I’ve stuck with these guys for a very long time but I have my limits and supporting the spread of antisemitism and right wing conspiracy theories is a pretty solid line for me. I’ve never supported boycotts of anyone before, not even Glenn Beck. However, I can’t justify subscribing and financially supporting a media outlet that contributes to mainstreaming Alex Jones.
I live alone and work at home. LGF and XM 202 have been my constant companions for many years. Canceling my satellite radio would be a tough break to make. I don’t want to send a threatening email without the cancellation to back it up.
