There was a guy here in the Atlanta area who is in jail for the same thing. Sad Story. The fucked up thing is that he got more punishment for killing the dog than he did repeatedly beating his girlfriend.

We also have a domestic violence organization here that helps find the pets of victims homes. People don’t realize that one of the things an abuser uses to threaten a victim is the family pet. Since most DV shelters don’t take pets,victims will stay because of a fear the pet will be killed.
