That’s the version of MacArthur and Patton that Trump seems to have gotten too. Everyone of his supporters complains about how we’re too sensitive now but the famous slapping incident caused an outrage then as it should have. I don’t doubt that Patton was one of our best generals but he was a pretty shitty person and I’m glad we got Ike as the general we elected after WWII and not him or Douggie Mac. Another WWII general I admire is Marshall. It was the trashing of Marshall by McCarthy and his allies and Eisenhower’s TBH cowardice on that issue that really disgusted Truman. I still like Ike but Ike’s silence on that along with a certain Tricky Dick running mate he had would have made me vote for Adlai.
