re: #490 Obdicut

All good parents need to know what’s going on with their kids.

All bad parents don’t need to, and it would be better for the kids if they didn’t know.

Therein lies the dilemma.

No evidence that the parents in question were bad parents, though.

I fought the school tooth and nail to keep her in school. They were very obvious in their desire for her to leave. pffft! Wasn’t gonna happen on my watch! I wanted them to help me plan what was going to happen at the end of the year, when she was due to give birth before school ended. They simply would not. So I just left her in school, and when she gave birth, they had to come up with a way for her to finish the final couple of weeks of school. And they did. Luckily for us, the nun who was superintendent of Catholic schools at the time was behind us. She felt strongly that if we want our kids to make what we consider the moral choice, then we cannot punish them by kicking them out of school. That plus, honestly, the mere fact of being in the state of pregnancy is not a “sin” in any way, IMO.
