No matter rhow much he thought he was doing “the right thing”

Rachel did a pretty thorough analysis on her show; basically, he was overly worried about how Republicans/Conservatives might criticize him/the agency if he made one choice, but not the slightest bit worried about how Democrats/Liberals might criticize him/the agency if he made the other choice.

In other words, working the refs. Just like they’ve done with the media for 30 years.

With no awareness AT ALL that he’s turning federal law enforcement into yet one more purely partisan endeavor.
