China has adjusted the dollar-yuan exchange rate to make the yuan cheaper against the dollar, which will help keep import prices (for US businesses) low, so China can keep its export economy humming. But that can’t last forever, especially if Trump keeps raising the ante. China has complained to the WTO, as I believe other countries have. Trump will naturally ignore the WTO, and probably try to withdraw from it, because America First!

Welp, that’s the problem isn’t it? Lots of US parts get imported to China, as do parts from other countries, that are put together there and then get sent to the US as finished products.

Trump has no concept of how the global supply chain works or influences global trade. He’s just as dumb as a box of hammers on how all of this works, and he won’t listen to anyone who does.

It’s a recipe for disaster, and no one seems to want to tell him to quit fucking the dog.
