Part of the problem is a lot of people believe that the Post Office is a government owned corporation rather than an independent agency. The idea of the Post Office turning a profit should be as stupid as the idea of the Patent and Trademark Office turning a profit.

(I was originally going to say the military instead of the PTO, but I didn’t want to give the wingnuts any ideas of looting and pillaging as part of the military’s job)
