re: #49 Slumbering Behemoth

I measure all blogs by LGF. When HuffPo has to preemptively close comments on threads about any (R) who has health problems, or has died, it is obvious there is a serious problem with their readership, and they know it.

At least they take that step, though. Other sites can’t even bother to see the sliver in their own eye, and do nothing to police the hideous comments that abound in such stories.

I give big props to Charles and the Monitor Lizards here for keeping this place civil in that regard, and I endeavor to honor such as a guest here.

True, at least they have the decency to shut down the comments when it gets bad.

It’s funny reading site like HuffPo in how it’s hard not to notice how much a lot of them hate Christopher Hitchens. Some of them get so worked up that they start to sound like thumpers. It’s like he’s this giant hydra-headed monster because he supported the Iraq war.

They ascribe too much credit for the reason we went to war in Iraq with Hitchens. They even do the same with the “war-bloggers.” Let’s face it. We would have gone to war in Iraq without Hitchens, the war bloggers, etc. They were a mere blip in the political landscape and had not affect in foreign policy at all. Zero. Zilch.
