You pretty much nailed it. Women are conditioned to believe their fathers, then their husbands, are the ultimate authority - and the men know this full well, and take full advantage of it. A common topic on Christian message boards, in fact, is the concept of spousal rape - what happens when a husband is horny and the wife absolutely isn’t? Can she say no, what should she do, etc. You can imagine how those arguments usually go.
