that make no sense…why would they give the guy up without the money?…why is it about the money?…his life is at stake and it’s no time to try to be tricky

He is in this position because every time these pirates take a ship and some hostages, the shipping companies, through their insurers or directly, pay these criminals off. It has become another expense and they don’t seem to realize that it’s a losing game. It goes on and on until somebody, like Jefferson, stands up and says “no more.”
