According to some anthropology text I once read, Stonehenge as a percentage of GDP and presentation of technological prowess, was approximately equivalent to our moonshot.

The same might be said of the Egyptian Pyramids and other grandiose schemes. I wonder what the actual relevant numbers are, and how they were computed.
