Back when Twitter was young, I remember late-night TV host Conan O’Brien , who apparently didn’t tweet at that time, rambling on about how puzzled he was that people would send out short messages describing what they were doing at any given time. Conan couldn’t figure out why it would be so popular.

If only he was right.
