re: #391 J.D.

I am a management consultant who spends most of my time working as a interim executives for small companies trying to grow. All my clients are profitable, want to grow, know they need some help to build the management structure, and are privately held. I only take clients where I deal directly with the owner and I usually end up with an equity interest in the company if it is a long term engagement.

My clients typically have fewer then 40 employees and take home about $100k to 150k per year. They are the typical small business person who works hard, generates jobs but is so busy fighting fires they never achieve the scale and profitability they should.

I can tell you with absolute certainty that if card check leads to workers organizing these small employers the owners will shut their doors. Many of these small business owners could get a job, take a pay cut but work 25% to 50% fewer hours every week.

The election of Obama, the bailout bills and the class war fare rhetoric of the last election has taken away the dream of hitting it big for many of these people. Many do not believe if they work hard now they will be repaid in the future. They are looking to correct that work life balance so many W2 employees talk about.

Card check will be an unmitigated disaster.
