I find it (here in Canada anyway) somewhat hypocritical for people (I heard this on CNN today, wringing their hands and bemoaning the “lack of civility”) to suddenly exclaim about the sinking level of the discourse…I mean, really, where were these people (such as Jack Cafferty, etc.) when George Bush was President? I never heard a single considered remark about any need to “tone it down” — they reveled in it, and seemed to enjoy the most hate-filled screeds imaginable…(I won’t even bother repeating what was said/done up here with respect to the Bush administration)..but it was vile.
