I think he is incredibly jaded with a deep, wounded streak. When he was drinking and a radio disc jockey, he called up his ex-partner’s wife. She was at home recuperating from a miscarriage. He told he disparagingly, “he couldn’t even do that right.”
He blames this behavior on the alcohol and drugs. I blame it on his character.
