I have not lived in the States for decades and was never called up for jury duty when I lived there. But what sort of notice are they supposed to give?

depends on whether it’s federal, state, or county/municipal - the procedures are all different

this is county / Florida
they send a notice in the mail a few weeks ahead
then you call in the night before.
if your lottery number comes up you have to appear
if not you’re done (till next time)

they try to estimate the number of likely cases so they get the timing pretty good
its better than having everyone sit around in a room for a week waiting for something to happen

last time i was called was 2018. i didnt have to go in
before that was 2009

(i told mrs dm to say she thinks they’re all guilty) ;-)
