Not just instant availability, but cost as well.

For example, I could likely never afford the desktop computer I’m using if the components weren’t made in China; that’s just a sad reality. Nor could I afford my mobile phone if weren’t (almost entirely) made in China.

Unless governments are willing to subsidize the costs to consumers for non-Chinese-made products, China is going to be the world’s factory for the foreseeable future.

And of course, there are those who would say, “Well, you don’t really need Product XYZ” - which is the same as telling people, “Well, guess you just can’t have nice things, sorry about that”.

Good luck to those folks….though I think they might find themselves a little bewildered when they find themselves the guests of honor at an impromptu “necktie party”.
