Though this is a rare instance in which I think Thomas Massie is right. I think its extremely unlikely we will ever fight another war in which millions of soldiers have to be conscripted, so making young men register for the draft is pointless.

The draft mechanism can be used for a proper national service system that puts all Americans to work for 2 years helping the nation. Men & women should be registered and no one allowed to get out of it. Military, hospital orderly, teachers aide, conservation construction worker, etc.
