I believe you have the paradigm backwards. The people with the power and the money are the ones seeing to it that Beck reaches an audience of uneducated and angry hicks. The right started using Fox as their propaganda arm some time ago. Then the propaganda took a life of its own and has legitimized through disproportionate air time the views of the fringe and created “new truths” for certain masses of people.

This is exactly how the early Nazis got their start. The German industrialists who were behind the initial rise to power realized that they no longer had control and became remoras on the shark.
