One of the things I find most disappointing about the seeming freedom now to spew such ugly, bigoted epithets is that I’m seeing it in neighbors who are saying things that make my jaw drop. I do try to offer respect to all until they give me a good reason not to. Some have provided that reason to my dismay.

I will never get over people who out themselves as overt racists to me. My son is half-latino, and the stuff people say around me about “Mexicans” is just outrageous. You would think people would want to better hide their stupid.
