Wow. I never knew that kids were not covered under such protections for NON-FAMILY owned farms. How are these any different from factories, etc. (besides being more dangerous)?

Kids aren’t covered under non-family owned farms because migrant farm workers often have their kids in tow working in the fields too. Giving those kids child labor law protections is important, but of course Caribou Barbie seems to have a problem with that.
