I am retiring Friday and then working on a placard for Saturday’s march!

I really want to go to the rally in Minneapolis on Saturday. At the same time, I’m worried a bit about getting rounded up by the ‘authorities’ like what happened when the republican convention was in St. Paul in 2008.

I just started working with a lawyer to get a conviction from 14 years ago expunged by the courts. It’s the one and only time I’ve ever been in legal trouble, but it’s something that I’m afraid could mess things up when I’m trying to find retirement housing (I retire in one year and two weeks. Congrats on your retirement). The case will come up in court in August and I don’t want to do anything to fuck up my case. I think I’m feeling like a lot of people who’ve had brushes with the law, but I’m also feeling like a wuss for hesitating to protest for these kids and parents.

I’ve donated a shitload of money (for me) to RAICES and other aid groups this week. That may be the best thing I can do until after August.

PS: It was a victimless crime. I didn’t hurt anybody. It was incredibly stupid and I still feel like shit when I think about it.
