re: #457 allegro

A town nearby, suburb of Houston, is about 4 square miles in size and has about 150 churches, many of them in strip center storefronts, as are pretty common here. The mayor of the town said “no more” and tried to get something in front of the town council to forbid any new churches since the town was going broke. With the laws determining that businesses like restaurants that serve alcohol, etc. can’t be within 100 feet of a church (or something), it got so that all was left was non-tax paying churches.

I don’t know how this ended up - probably nowhere, but it is an interesting issue.

Do you know which suburb by any chance?

I’ll be in Houston later this week, and may feel the need to get absolved for lots of Texas size sinning. Seriously I was born and raised there so I’m curious if you know the name.
