Gyp is another one. I was gypped. Not nice for Gypsies. Jerry-rigged. Not nice for germans. Indian-giver… Welsh rabbit…no rabbit in it/politically correct is “rare”-bit. Oddly “fairy” (farie) was the polite expression for the gay, but was used too often.”Negro” used to be polite and “black” the more vulgar.
Language fascinates me.

I thought “Jerry-rigged” was actually something of a compliment to their ingenuity. Like “Jerrycans”, out of admiration for the superiority of their portable gas and water containers.
