When I bring up how Mexicans as a whole are people that should not be fucked with given their history, this is what I was told in return:

Trump supporters are ridiculously ignorant about history south of the border. I could at least excuse them for being ignorant of the Middle East and East Asia, but history involving our southern neighbor?

The Trumpiots certainly do not know history; if Mexico had taken the Germans up on the offer in the Zimmerman Telegram (and if the US had not intercepted it, the result of which when we actually did was the ensuing diplomatic row that pushed Wilson into bringing us into WWI), this could have been a very different world in which we live.
