I’m talking about traditional Christmas songs here, not “Santa Baby” and “Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer”.
Well, my favorite ending to a carol is “Once In Royal David’s City”:
Not in that poor lowly stable,
With the oxen standing by,
We shall see him, but in heaven,
Set at God’s right hand on high.
Where like stars his children crowned,
All in white shall wait around.
“Wait around”? FOR WHAT?
