Pet peeve: legitimate business callers who don’t identify themselves right away when calling.

Got an important call from my dealership, but no caller ID. Went like this:

Her: “Hello, is [my name] there?”
Me: “May I ask who is calling?”
Her: “I’m trying to get a hold of [my name].”
Me: “Yes, and I am asking who you are first. You called me.”
Her: “Oh, sorry… this is…”

Call was perfectly pleasant after that, but don’t they train phone manners at businesses anymore?

My person Old Lady peeve is receiving change. They give you the bills and then pile the change on top. This is the exact opposite of how I learned to count out change when I worked at my parents’ small business during my teenage years. Getting a bunch of bills with change piled on top is hella awkward. Of course who even pays with cash anymore, amirite?
