The GOP needs to realize that demographics are destiny. They can’t just keep aiming for the angry white guy anymore. They have to face reality and admit all the social, political, and cultural progress we’ve made since Gutenberg invented movable type.

Problem is, aiming for people that aren’t just the angry white guy means pissing off the party base that you’ve built of all those angry white guys. They’re not going to take kindly to languages that aren’t English and to women, minorities and immigrants being given a seat at the table. But that has to happen if the GOP is going to have any hope of continued survival.

Demographics aren’t a be all and end all. It does what color a man’s skin is, it’s what he believes that matters. But for that to be worth anything, you have to accept why he might not think the way you do and work to explain yourself from a sympathetic position. Shouting “Oh Noes, Brown People!!1” won’t get you anything but defeat.
